Sunday, December 31, 2017 - 14:05

The Law of the DPR "On Ratification of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Donetsk People's Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia", which was adopted by the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic on December 14, 2017, came into force on December 25, 2017, reported the press service of the DPR People's Council.

Being ratified, the agreement becomes effective as the Law of the Donetsk People's Republic, and the rules set out therein will now be implemented in the legal system of the Republic.

Thanks to this law, the DPR will be able to receive official assistance from the friendly Republic of South Ossetia, including, in the case of Ukraine's military aggression against the Donetsk People's Republic.

"The new status of the Treaty will allow the state authorities to regulate the legal relations between the states more specifically in the political, trade-economic, social-humanitarian, cultural and other fields, as well as provide support in the event of aggression, which is topical at the moment," the statement reads.

Thursday, December 14, 2017 - 16:26

Today, deputies of the DPR People's Council adopted in two readings the draft law "On Ratification of the Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Treaty between the DPR and the Republic of South Ossetia". The document was supported by 80 parliamentarians present at the meeting.

Before voting, attendees were introduced the provisions of the bill by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova.

"Ratification on part of the DPR will allow us to fulfill international obligations and comply with the norms of our legislation. After ratification, the treaty will acquire the force of the law of the Republic, and the norms set forth in it will be implemented in the legal system. The new status of the treaty will allow the state authorities to regulate in more detail the legal relations between our states in the relevant areas and to carry out interdepartmental cooperation," Nikonorova noted.

She added that the RSO in its turn ratified the friendship treaty signed with the Donetsk People's Republic on October 31.

It is noted that the adopted law will be sent to the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko and will come into force after its publication on the official website of the parliament.

We recall that on May 11, 2017, an agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the DPR and the Republic of South Ossetia was concluded. It is called upon to raise relations between states to a qualitatively new official level.
